Hi folks; I finally signed up here after finally getting the last of those pesky AC2 feathers thanks to the great info on this site!
I live in Kyoto (sister city of Firenze) but hail from scenic Brooklyn, New York.
I bought AC and AC2 right after finally getting a PS3 last December (Lightning edition 
) and absolutely love them. Played AC1 as my first PS3 game, loved it all the way through until the next-to-last battle, got stuck, took some time off, then finally won that and segued right into the awesomeness that is AC2.
Wow, do I love AC2. I've always liked the Italian renaissance; particularly the architecture, and getting to walk through such detailed recreations of these beautiful cities is such a pleasure. Ubi really outdid themselves here.
BTW, someone on GameFAQs gave me advice on that AC1 battle with Robert that finally got me through it (I was going nuts!); I think it was you, Stabguy, and if it was, thanks! I post as "DaBubba" over there but this site seems like it has better AC discussion, so here I am!

Yesh, the feather guides are great. Made one of the game's few un-fun parts a lot easier. And I'm kicking myself as my 99th feather was one I'd seen before and forgotten about -- the one up on the northern wall of the shipyard in northeast Venice. The 100th was one of those above-the-alleyway ones that the THB maps were perfect for.
As for ACB, I will indeed; this second playthrough of AC2 is in part to get me ready for it.
I won't be back in the US to buy it until around December 15 or so; is the game expected to drop in price at all in the first month, or is it worth it to pre-order (and then wait a month before picking it up) to get the pre-order bonuses?

By mid-December the price should have dropped but I'm not certain. The preorder bonuses would be good but if you can get it cheaper in December I'd go with that. They'll most likely be released as DLC later on anyway. If you're lookingg to get the game cheap in December, consider eBay. I bought ACII for only £17.50 about 2 weeks after release
With AC:B I've preordered two copies of the Codex Edition in the hope that selling one at a highly inflated price will pay for my own copy

Rob, come on out here! Despite many of the beautiful old streets -- spared in WWII -- falling victim to the Ministry of Construction and its insatiable development projects, a lot of the old city is still around.
(By which I mean the revitalized Kyoto of the 1800s and early 1900s. The real old Kyoto of the Tale of Genji, in the 11th century, fell into disrepair centuries after that and really has vanished. Either would make a great setting for an AC game, BTW!)
Patrick, yeah, the price drops for PS3 games are amazing. I knew AC2 was going to be good, and spent the full $60 on it in December '09 (knowing I wouldn't be in America again for half a year). By the time I got to playing it in April/May of this year ('10), it was much cheaper!
Despite being able to use my credit card to buy Wipeout DLC back in January, I can't seem to buy DLC for AC2 (I haven't seen Bonfire of the Vanities or the Battle of Forli yet!), so I'd rather have everything built in.

In that case go for the preorder. TBH, I prefer to have it all in one too. To get the ACII DLC I'd have to buy a PSN Voucher as the Store doesn't take Debit Cards so I haven't played it either. There's nothing else i really want to download so a £20 Voucher is pointless

Its Italian for "How are you, friends?", I believe

At least, that's what I hope it means! Playing ACII actually inspired me to get out some of my old Italian learning materials. By the end of ACII, I really felt like I could understand a lot of Italian... upon which, for my second go-round, I set the spoken language to Italian. Was promptly blindsided by the rapid-fire *real* Italiano coming from Desmond and Lucy! Ezio is a little easier to follow, though, and with subtitles I'm doing better!

Luckily it isn't an offensive phrase or insult 
I've always intended to set the language to Italian for the "authentic" experience but for some reason have never got round to it 
It's a little strange when you try it in Italian. When everyone talks, it just doesn't sound right. It's not the same.

Stabguy, thanks once again for those hints back when I was playing AC1. I was about to give up on that game, and the final memory block (which I was already disliking because of the abrupt change from stealthy assassin to wanton butcher) nearly ruined a great experience. I was thinking of playing through that game a second time, but the call of Ezio and his beautiful citta was too much and I decided to have a go at the Minimum Kill run.
Now how do I save Lorenzo de' Medici without anyone dying!?

Anyway im also doing this challenge now, il catch up to you soon so it will be interesting to see how our methods compare
Now from what I remember, I think on your first attempt you get to extra guards to help you out. Maybe you could take advantage of this and only fight the guys from behind as they attack those two guards
You could also use the hidden blade to weaken everyone to a few blocks of health, then grab and punch them out ( grabbing seems pretty reliable against enemies with swords as opposed to punching them)
