Oh god I so badly want to post deadmau5 in this thread but I'd end up posting over 100 of his songs because I can't choose between them (except for I Remember, which is far and away my favorite song of all). Does anyone else love the mau5 as much as I do? Cool

Probably not as much, but I think he is the best artist out there right now. Raise You Weapon and A City in Florida are my favorite ones Smile

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

The Subways.

Saw them, as well as Funeral for a Friend, last night for a friend's birthday and they were pretty good. I'd only heard one or two of their songs before but I'm starting to really like them now:

Going on record as saying this is the greatest Christmas song ever recorded and I doubt it will ever be surpassed. Seriously. It's as if God himself sent down one of his angels to record this (I'm not an extremely religious person but I can't find a better way to describe it). If I ever had the opportunity to meet Mariah Carey, I would thank her immediately for this song. Happy holidays THB:

Haha, that's pretty good, EA.

I've really been getting into dubstep/electro house recently - artists like Excision, deadmau5, Flux Pavilion, Wolfgang Gartner, Joker, Knife Party and Skrillex (a hate figure for traditional dubstep fans Wink) are all sounding really good a the moment.

Also, Assassin's Creed posted this on Facebook:

A perfect fusion of AC and dubstep, I'm sure you'll agree. Laughing out loud

Pty James's picture

I think it's because Skrillex really turned dubstep into something almost mainstream. As Phi said before, he is overrated, its not that he is bad, but he is not the BEST and there are several other "DJs" that either as good or better than him. I personally prefer Nero and Ephixa.

PS: And I don't understand why everybody is loving his remix of Levels. IMO its too exagerated and kind of ruins a great song.

Yeah he's probably overhyped but I couldn't care less if other people hate him or think his music isn't real dubstep. I think people restirct music too much to particular genres. It's best to just listen to what you like. There are better artists out there though; I agree with your opinion on Nero. Smile

161803398874989's picture

I listen to a lot of things. Jazz, dubstep, DnB, funk, bass-solo's, disco, all sorts of classical music,... As long as it fits my criteria. It has to have a good rhythm, not the same damn four beats repeated over and over again, or the same eight half notes played. It also must not be cliche. I think Adele's Someone Like You is a very shitty song. The only good part are the vocals, and that's it. The piano accompaniment is boring beyond belief. Sounds cliche, played cliche, I don't enjoy listening to it. A song has to be good in all aspects, just because you can sing well doesn't mean you make good music.

I've been listening to Labrinth a lot lately. He's been around for a couple of years now in the UK but hasn't released anything in the US as far as I'm aware. Here are his songs:

I really like this video. It's well done, the lyrics are accurate, and the parallel with tetris is brilliant.

At the moment, I'm listening to Christmas music, mainly carols being sung by English choirs. There are many things that the British do very well, but choral music they do better than everybody. For such a small island, it's positively lousy with magnificent choirs!

One song that both of my radio stations have been playing lately is Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve.

This song always reminds me of the Seattle Seahawks' 2005 season. Bitter Sweet Symphony was their theme song that would play when they came onto the field. It was a magical season for the Seahawks when everything came together and they could win any game at will. After finishing the regular season as the top seeded team in the NFC with a record of 13-3, they cruised through the playoffs with convincing victories over the Redskins and Panthers.

Then the Seahawks played in Super Bowl XL, dominating the Pittsburgh Steelers in every aspect of the game except the officiating. That's not just me speaking as a Seahawks fan. A majority of fans and reporters felt that poor officiating actually reversed the outcome of the game. Bittersweet indeed.

Eight years later and Bitter Sweet Symphony is still the anthem of my beloved Seattle Seahawks. Once again they finished with a record of 13-3 and were the top seeded team in the NFC. After barely escaping with a win over the San Francisco 49ers in the well-contested NFC championship game, the Seahawks took the field to the opening strains of Bitter Sweet Symphony at this year's Super Bowl.

As many of you already know, the result was much different this time around. The Seahawks entered as slight underdogs to the Denver Broncos, the #1 team in the AFC led by veteran quarterback Peyton Manning. I won't go over all the details but it was an utter blowout. Final score: Seattle 43, Denver 8. The "greatest offense in the history of the NFL" nearly didn't score at all, managing only a single touchdown on the last play of the third quarter. Seattle's defense outscored the entire Denver team. There are no asterisks on this result: the officiating was excellent, the weather cooperated, and there were no serious injuries on either side.

This morning I heard Bitter Sweet Symphony on the radio again. No longer bitter. Just sweetness.

You won't even feel the blade.

She's very talented. Her songs are also very remixable and fit for mashups, which I like as an electronic music lover.
